Laura Bishop is a proud resident of Carbondale, IL where she lives with her husband, Matt, and their three daughters. She attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Communication/Public Relations and a Master of Science in Speech Communication. She has spent much of her career working in public relations, marketing, fundraising and social services. After her third daughter was born with Down syndrome, Laura started a new career as a stay-at-home mom and advocate. She spent the last 13 years volunteering and serving as an educational advocate for families in southern Illinois.


Having a child with special needs creates obstacles that many families experience. Obtaining life insurance can be one of those obstacles, but it doesn’t need to be. Laura’s role at Bishop Insurance Group is to educate and support families when making decisions regarding life insurance for their dependents, specifically those who might not qualify for a typical policy. Laura is involved in the Southern Illinois Choral Union, Southern Illinois Down Syndrome Group, First United Methodist Church – Church Council and volunteers each summer at Little Grassy United Methodist Camp.

Laura enjoys exercising, growing flowers in her yard, and being crafty!
